When I was maybe 6 or 7 my dad stopped his '66 Buick Skylark outside a variety store and ran in to get me something to eat. I guess I was peckish and we were in a hurry.
He brought me out an egg salad sandwich and a can of grape pop. I love grape pop.
I told him I didn't like egg salad. I was a picky eater.
He told me to eat it anyway.
so I took a few bites, washed it down with grape pop, and then, mostly because I believed I hated egg-salad, barfed. Barfed big time. Covered my mouth to stop it and purple egg-salad barf shot sideways all over the interior of his '66 Buick Skylark (it was a nice car! Impractical as a family car, though).
So, for the first time since, I ate an egg salad sandwich yesterday. Delicious!

CLIMAX.
I've always thought of Apocalypse Now as, among other things, the best and longest music video The Doors ever had. The End peaks right as the story reaches its climax. The horror. The horror.

On The Topic of Urgency and Music
I once declared that 'Neil Diamond is Rock and Roll', much to the anger of some friends. See 1:19 - See how he's building up to the chorus, and you can hear in his voice a sort of... pressing need- even those these words were written and sung over and over, there still remains, at that moment, some of the original emotion that went into the song.
It's like Neil Diamond needs to sing those words. I know, Neil may not be the best example.
But look here, or here - two songs by The Mountain Goats. The first makes you feel so anxious that you want to throw up or scream, while the second- and listen for it- has a palpable... potential. Like a tightly wound spring- a tall pile of books- a twig bent to its very limits- something is about to happen and it's going to happen in a big way.
This is urgency. Not all music has it, but the music that does sets itself above the rest.
And, it is by no means the only metric by which to gauge music, but it's a damn effective one.
It's as if the musician must play, as if it is no longer a matter of choice. More here.
And there's this- oh boy- this is phenomenal- like a bomb about to go off:

Long time, my friends!
Did you know that they have kosher sushi places?
And did you know that they have camouflaged Bibles for people in the military?
After days and days of work, this art work will be purposely destroyed!
James Dean was raised by his Quaker aunt.
Leonard Cohen is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist Monk.
Here's a cover of one of his songs. I like it.
