We are a popular accident, a bad cold.

I've done this before- using online translators like babelfish- you start with a phrase, translate it to another language, and then back to english to see the result. This site does it with Japanese and back, and back to Japanese, until an equilibrium is reached, and you keep getting the same results in both languages. The final phrase is often rather different from the first phrase.

I tried:
We are bits of stellar matter that got cold by accident, bits of a star gone wrong.

and, it could not reach an equilibrium. but along the way we were given gems like this:
We bit the problem, the stars are cold, the best bit is bad, it is an accident.
and later this:
We are a popular accident, a bad cold.

See what fun we're having?

Now you try.
